Then, when that happens, the government has to smoke a cigarette, wait, and then try to start the whole process over again later. But often, it takes a while before further attempts at stimulus will yield any response. So its much better to avoid the "overstimulus" problem to begin with.
Mr. Biden obviously knows about such things.

I'm not sure how to get out of this without a second stimulus package. Since Obama's fighting the health care front now, he's probably not keen on going to Congress for Stimulus II. It worries me that he either way, he may lose. If he doesn't go for a second stimulus, he'll be blamed for not addressing the economic crisis swiftly and competently. If he does, conservatives will decry how Obama's saddling our great-grandchildren with enormous debt that is unheard of - unheard of, I tell you!
I just hope whatever he does works, so that he doesn't give the Sarah Palins of the world a platform for 2012.
@MisterHippity: How would more stimulus = the halting of economic recovery? Wouldn't it only help?
