You have two disinformation agents and one gets awarded a prize, that of corse gives the other every reason to be pissed off as hell.

This is the one time I will agree with Friedman: go, Friedman go, hate that Krugman. The story even managed to provoke a tiny bit of sympathy on my part for the man in mustaches: to see how apparently hard at work he is to come up with all his shit is just sad.

    @caligulash:

Who says he's working hard? I understand that he's working constantly. I hope I don't offend you with an excretion analogy: sometimes one has to work very hard, and sometimes, one has gastric symptoms that verily command immediate expulsion from the large intestine.

I think that Friedman's writing resembles a chronic case of the latter; hence, the logorrhea. And that smell.

Way to beg the question. Just what is Friedman's relationship with fake hedgie Prescott Hahn?

I dunno, but is he related to the ex Mayor Hahn that just got awarded a nice cushy job in Los Angeles?

Oh, how I've missed you, Thomas Friedman!

I miss your giving War a Chance!

I miss your "If they want 1389, we'll give them 1389!"

    I miss your pre-enlightenment metaphors

    and your demented machismo

I miss your "Pottery Barn Rule": "You break it, you own it!", so true!

And the "Fudgesicle doctrine", remember, "Suck on this"?

Will your dreams ever soar again, Thomas Friedman?

Will your genius ever be rewarded?

Will we ever flatten this crazy, mixed-up sphere?

Have to purge this one: In the photo we see Friedman at his Irish Bar Mitzvah, as a Mustachioed Sally Field the Flying Rabbi.

Krugman won for his work on the Swedish economist that sits on the prize committee and also happens to be associated with Princeton. Wait, no, that's not right, Krugman won because he stole his ideas about trade from... No that's not right. Krugman won because he is not a jelly doughnut.

Any mention that his wife is worth a gazillion dollars and that's how he got to go to all these hot spots before the NY Times was picking up the tab?

@Randall Tex Cobb: It does mention that his wife's family is quite rich- billions- but she herself is a schoolteacher, which is admirable.

I refuse to read the thing. But does the piece report the fact that Friedman buys tens of thousands of copies of his own books to goose up their rankings on amazon?

So she married him because he stays away?

@Smitros: My boss, at 6PM one day when I was about to pull a second all-nighter in a week and was canceling dinner plans with my fiancee: "It's good for them to learn this early. After a while, they don't mind it so much when you're not around. And a while after that, they find that it has certain advantages."

I love my job, I love my job, ...
