@momof3wildkids: It's good to think about the basic questions we need to be focused on, but this fellow has a number of issues: 1) George Mason 2) He is the "John Olin" professor of economics. Look up John Olin if you don't know who that was. 3) This was a speech delivered on a cruise from Italy to Greece. There is some significance there, but not sure what. In short, he's a laurelled economist with a megaphone who works at an institution so close to the evil powermongers that it can't be untainted (and Phil Gramm's wife is/was involved with the GMU Mercatus institute, for instance). In short, he's working for the bad guys. Watch what he does, not what he says.
@Uncle_Billy_Slumming: I am probably someone you'd consider to be one of 'the bad guys' too. His views are a very extreme form of what I believe, but we are in the same ball park. I think if the health care bill (either of them) passes, we will see a lawsuit questioning the constitutionality of the law.
@momof3wildkids: Unless you're knowingly employeed by or consulting with them, I don't think so. The bad guys to me are the people that tearing up the country with fear and hate through extremely effective use of propaganda.
"A broad perspective is encouraged through opportunities for off-campus internships, overseas study programs and the adjunct seminars of the Center for Constructive Alternatives, Mises Lectures in free-market economics..."
@Uncle_Billy_Slumming: Tossing the wet noodle of a conspiracy theory at a wall to see if it sticks, am hopeful that this email be a fake and nothing more than the propaganda of some green backlash group with their heads up their asses.
Including the photo collage with the reported findings is a bit much.
And who keeps 13 years of damning emails lying about?
Keep in mind that Shedlock is a major flack, and the post he made just previous to this one (visualization of unemployment numbers in the united states) is the scariest thing I've seen in years.
Tip: When you search "global warming reuters hoax" on gawker, nothing comes up. Did you miss this?
The nominal hoaxters, the "Yes Men" said they got help from a group called Avaaz Action Factory. Did anyone point out that "Avaaz" is the hebrew name of a bird that makes a lot of noise? Did everyone believe that Reuters and MSNBC got suckered?
If you look at the group that is said to have founded Avaaz, Res Publica, things get very foggy.
They boast that Patel has consulted for the Rockefeller Foundation, among other things. He has the same Oxbridge/LSE pedigree as the architects of our financial armageddon. Periello -- Yale, State Department spookiness about him (and good Catholic too). Pravda (come on, for real?): British spy if there ever was one.
HF (Health First) appears to have a lobbyist, Tonio Burgos, who has clients like waste management companies and unions, the Catholic Healthcare System, Ford Motors, Pharma, Telecom, The Wine Institute, you name it.
Lookout, unemployed fat people! A Peruvian gang allegedly lured people "with fake job offers before killing them and extracting their fat.." to sell... as cosmetics.

Things are a little clearer...
From the Hillsdale College "about" page:

This is wacky... front page of online NYT, and hardly anyone is emailing, blogging, or searching this story in the "most popular" box?

We have a host of characters steeped in more British-American murkiness and plenty of Soros... Open Society and Center For American Progress.
This country (world?) is getting played big time, and they're doing it right under our noses. It's the "Open Society" way.
