    I just put Isherwood's book on which this movie is based on hold at the library! Can't wait for it to come in.

    Let's be honest: If you market a movie as gay, it doesn't play much outside the Quad.

    Also, I think the trailer edit is a horrible straight wash, but the movie poster itself seems fairly compelling and representative of the story. Do we really want a pic of his lover hovering over his shoulder, taunting him? That's the shit you'd see on a TLA direct-t0-video.

    @filthy tongue: When people are really sexy -- sexy because of who they are, not merely what they look like -- they get sexier as they become more fully themselves. That's what aging well is.

    He indeed rocks. After the crushing blow of NY voting down gay marriage (which I am taking rather hard) I appreciate his comments more than ever. He and Julianne look very sassy in that photo though.

    I get why they did it. My mother: likely go to see a movie starring Colin Firth and Julienne Moore, less likely to go see a movie that features gay characters. My mother is not the most enlightened person on the planet, but she does pay money to go to the movies.

    I have to admit I find the trailer confusing. Colin Firth is dancing with Julienne Moore. They laugh. He's flailing around naked under water. Back to the dancing. Under water naked shot. Julienne crying. Bare leg underwater, etc. Thank God someone actually wrote a synopsis of it so I could know what it was about. I found the synopsis was actually more intriguing than the trailer, and that's why I'm going to see it. (Oh, and because there's a chance Colin Firth is going to be wet and naked...)

    Colin is the only celebrity that I like MORE after he opens his mouth.

    Why is is he not more famous? I have been lusting after this guy since "Valmont" and that was 20 freaking years ago.

    @TheUptightMidwesterner: Actually I think he's "perfectly" famous. As in, he does smart good movies with occasional small roles in "bigger" pics. But he hasn't crossed over into being some comic book character or over-the-top action movie patriotic assassin. And those of us who know, get him all to ourselves.

    btw, if you love colin, you'll love a single man. I'm sure it will play the lagoon.

    @manchops: Much as I love Colin Firth (like the Girl With Daddy Issues that I am) I will salt your praise by reminding the Universe that he was in "What A Girl Wants." You would think that this would play to the Daddy Issues crowd, but still. Amanda Bynes.

    Pretty sure Padma's donor is financier TF- he has a habit of wooing the famous exes of British notables : Liz Hurley, the late Princess of Wales. He's marriage-phobic, and his butler M once quietly told me that he used to have his secretary dump his non-famous girlfriends over the telephone.

    Terry Richardson skeeves me out, always. Nick Rhodes- has anyone ever fully bought the idea he's heterosexual? Gina G is the Bathsheba to my David, I want to know her unlawfully. Olivia's piece is quite a catch, hope he's careful not to break her brittle bird-bones when she begrudgingly allows fussy, monthly sex. Madonna looks swell in that spider-monkey pelt. Tom Ford I admire, he's got style with a touch of loopiness in his persona, interviews are always entertaining. His eye-cast seems to not be improving, though.
    Sort of endearing.
