In reply to Fun with Guns: Vigilante DC Cop Dishes Draconian Martial Law for Snowball Fight
Ah, it seems that Betty Crocker has tapped into the true spirit of Christmas with her barrage of F**k You's. BTW Betty...your cop friend seems to have done a lot of good. What have you ever done? That's perhaps an unfair question. I don't want to put you on the spot as I really agree with you. I hate hipsters too, what with all their weed-smoking and frozen-turkey throwing that they do. And yes there are vulgar cops. Sometimes they like to cuddle with their vulgar women when not delivering heroin-addicted babies in taxis while on the subway track. Hmmm....perhaps I should reread your posts. Anyway.... I hope your cuddling went well after telling Deva14 to drop dead in the gutter. HEY! Maybe your cop friend could save her! Wouldn't that be ironic?

Well, the coroner is doing an autopsy anyway. I think maybe her family insisted against his wishes. If I were her family, I would have insisted on an autopsy too. She was only 32 and she went into cardiac arrest. Besides from some undiagnosed medical condition, I would be suspicious. The first thing I thought of was anorexia and diet pills but that doesn't mean her husband had anything to do with her death. She could have been taking the pills on her own without his knowledge. And that's pure speculation.

I knew the heat would be on her husband now. Everyone talked about how bizarre their marriage was but to honest with you, Brittany always seemed a little different. She went from being lovably eccentric to just plain kooky to something else. Hopefully there was no foul play involved.

I know this sounds crazy, but I am wondering if he had some kind of hold over her. Maybe I'm just watching too many movies.

They were such an odd couple and he always seemed so sinister.

@NotReadyForPrimeTime: No, I'm sure he did. He was her personal assistant/handler on the set of the movie that she was just kicked off of, and word was that he had a very, ahem, firm and attentive hand. This guy sounds so icky. Anyway, I'm so sad for her, above and beyond all this.

An autopsy can seem pretty brutal and disfiguring. I've had family members refuse autopsies on their loved ones when answers could have been obtained regarding their illnesses from it. And while those were elective autopsies, I'm gonna give this shady guy an ever so slight pass on the comment.

Does Simon Monjack stand to profit from the death of his wife Brittany Murphy in any way? Like is he the beneficiary of a life insurance policy?

If yes then I think an autopsy and a police investigation are justified.

In reply to Brittany Murphy, Actress, 32
But Murphy's history, both of recent and long before this, will at some point be taken into account.

No, what will be taken into account are the medical facts of her case. Whether there are drugs in her system or not is not that difficult to determine. And whether they're found or not, her past rumored history (and rumors are not always facts, you know) will not enter into whatever final determination is made.

In other words, there's no autopsy in history that's said "you know, we could have actually tested for stuff, but given her history, we thought we'd just call it drugs and be done with it."

@jasonelias: a flim flam man, eh? mmm you just made me think of flan. I want to go to there.

Seriously, though. There is so much crazy stuff on this guy Monjack out on the interwebs. In the link above ("readers decry" on Hollywoodgossip) various women claim they are his ex wives, step daughters, former workers, etc. And they seem to have inside knowledge. Insane things to be read right there.

The world will know more about this guy soon enough.

I'm not sure why he would have to answer the question as to why he wouldn't want an autopsy, or why something that happened in another country occured, or some shit on an airplane flight, or anything, ever, really. Maybe it was a personal request they'd made one night while talking, something she'd said she'd wanted, like how I've told my loved ones I'd rather not be embalmed and buried, but cremated instead. Maybe he was just trying to hold up his end of an agreement.

It seems that their relationship, though filled with bizarre events and career strains, was one that was tightly guarded and largely private. Her death occured in a private place, and she was discovered by a family member, among family members. I don't think anybody besides her mother and husband and those other close family members "deserve" any sort of explanation, and I imagine that even if they are suspicious of something, they'd rather the media just fuck off with their cloying empathy. Sure he seems like a skeeveball on the outset, but part of the reason he came to America in the first place no doubt was that this is the land of fucking skeeveballs, and they are allowed to be such without much outside interest.

I don't know. I just don't like the idea of people in the media circling the wagons on a pop culture figure that, prior to her sudden death, no one really thought about or gave much of a shit about except on those few occasions where she did something deemed suitably "strange" for the tabloid press to make a blurb about. It reminds me a lot of Natasha Richardson's death, and how nobody aside from theater patrons really followed her career, and suddenly everyone wanted to know why this tragedy happened, that there must be answers, when the reality is if she were still alive today nothing she could do could garner her column inches outside of, of course, dying.

I love you, Gawker, but you're bringing me down.

@ampersandparade: A personal request made one night talking? "Darling, whatever happens, don't let them autopsy me." Really? A very strange speculation, a real first in my ever hearing that, ever .

And no, don't give me religious reasons, one can only imagine what a great excuse that would be for murderers everywhere. Very strange request from the husband.

There's enough oddness in this girl's history, this couple's history, that it's a legitimate question. TMZ reported last year that Murphy had a freakout and called the police because she thought people were shooting at her house trying to kill her. Turns out it was a malfunctioning furnace making noises. Sorry, that sounds like textbook cokey paranoia.

And this husband of hers seems shady as well. I forget where I read it today, but he also got in trouble for overstaying his US visa at some point. Between that and his airplane emergency where he was described as "incoherent", I'm afraid people who want to say they were just some ordinary folks need to stop denying the many irregularities, in this girl's life and now. Like requesting there be no autopsy.

I am genuinely sorry to hear of this news, it's a tragedy. But just as a civilian, I could see there was something sickly about her appearance by 8 Mile, something unwell. I didn't know she was diabetic, if that's indeed the case I regret thinking she might be on drugs.
It was purely my own observation.

There's enough strangeness to go around here though, and I don't know why not finding out what killed her is supposed to be somehow respectful.
