    41. Because we invented PNP.

I believe there's a certain city by a bay that would like to object to this.

The "why NY is awesome" comment uttered in my apartment this afternoon:

"Because you have the luxury of deciding which kosher restaurants are good or bad instead of just being grateful that there is one." #123

@The One: Mmm, good question... Gotta go with Mike's Bistro and Va Bene. The food at Prime Grill is great but the service is horrible, and Tevere 84 is objectively good but I don't like Italian food. I will say, though--NYC is sorely lacking in good kosher Chinese, so, still not perfect.

@DahlELama: Thanks for the info. I guess I never heard of these because we're downtowners.

For kosher Chinese, have you tried Buddha Bodai? Also, I'm pretty sure that Wild Ginger is kosher.

@The One: My favorite kosher restaurant downtown is Madras Cafe; it literally turned me on to Indian food.

I've never been to Buddha Bodai; I prefer meat in my Chinese so I haven't been to many of the vegan places. Never heard of Wild Ginger, but the menu on the website seems to have shellfish in the dishes so sadly that doesn't qualify!

I think this post is off-putting, btw, because Gawker's "voice" as a blog, as a whole, has moved so far away from the very Manhattan-centric feel it had at first. I pretty much hated this site when I first discovered it in 2005 (after Coen linked a blog I had then), but started loving it a lot within a year or so, as more bloggers were added and the subjects covered were more diverse.

This is a wonderful idea, even if the inaugural vintage post chosen is incredibly off-putting to anyone who doesn't live in New York City. (Mind you, I LOVE NY, too. But it's still off-putting.)

@RandomLunatic: Yeah, I figured that'd be the case. But as this was my favorite, and it's time-appropriate, we're rolling this out to start. Also, maybe some old-school might come out of the woodwork too? Who knows.

@Foster Kamer: Sorry I didn't wait till you'd responded, Foster - I would have posted my response here if I had.

Like I said, though - I think this is an awesome idea overall - and this is one of the few blogs that can justify doing such a thing.

Because New Yorkers are so insularly provincial that they would never dream of living anywhere else, and everywhere else is so grateful for that. #123

Oh my God, am I going to have to go through CollegeHumor's crappy archives now to find out if Jake Hurwitz has ever done any other hot fauxmo pictorials?

I've seen him before and been pretty meh, but now .... somehow I suspect he's going to be in my thoughts tonight. Maybe just maybe with Levi Johnston. And a black and white hockey stick.

Hey everyone. Calm your asses down. I can't believe people are arguing that it is wrong to throw snowballs at cars. Are you all serious? That's what cars are for! Besides... they are the main cause of global warming. How else is the snow supposed to fight back? I mean, sure....icy roads fuck up a car now and then. But we all must do our part to help the snow exact revenge. Besides....these were HUMMERS!!! Stupid hulking cars driven by assholes with microdicks, named after a well-known sex act. Please people. If we can't snowball a Hummer... WTF is this world coming to?!!??!

Looking at number 8, all I can hear is Eddie Monsoon's voice telling me "look at these cheekbones, sweetie! This entire outfit hangs on these cheekbones!"

Except in DVF's case, it's the entire crew in that photograph.

Regarding number 12 - Hurwitz is a faker and Blumenfeld, well still my beating heart but he looks like a sincere boy.

And Ricky Van Veen? Those eyes, that jawline. Swoon.
