Um, Clooney TIFF season begins tonight, not tomorrow, with the Men Who Stare at Goats Roy Thomson Hall gala - torontointernationalfilmfestiv....ca/filmsandschedules/schedule?sdate=11/09/2009">[www.torontointernationalfilmfestiv....ca] .
Don't try to throw Torontonians off our stalk.... er, viewing schedule.
What??? "Out of Sight" was a movie for our times, Richard. Great art does not always make a lot of money. But I will tell you right now that that weird divorce movie that also starred the hot chick from Zorro changed my life. Box office! Pfft!
why are the journalists at film festivals so goddamned STUPID?
Oooh, oooh! *hand in air* I think I know! Choose me! Okay, then, it's been my personal experience that MSM still does not take film and film "happenings" all that serious, especially when they aren't "American" film happenings. Therefore, they find someone who is willing to do coverage for the event either pro bono, or close to it and more for the privilege of attending the festival at somebody else's expense.
The Casey Wilson anecdote is absurd--first of all, the woman is far from fat. There was nothing about her size that made her unpleasant to watch. There was, however, something about her acting, so I'm not really sure why her axing needs an excuse.
I posed the question "Why do people finance anything related to Tyler Perry?" in my fb status and, wow, I don't think I've ever seen something 'liked' so much by so many.
If it's true, it's ridiculous that Casey Wilson got canned because someone thought she was "overweight." She has a nice body, I wouldn't put it past Lorne Michaels.
Come to think of it, Lorne probably gave Michaela Watkins the boot because she was slightly older than the majority of the cast. You know Lorne's stupid saying when he's not feeling sure about the show, "When in doubt, go young..."
@Smitros: I mourn the day that hot-and-curvy Jennifer Connelly got the Hollywood message that "serious" actresses have to be wafer thin and uber-emo. (And then won an Oscar after she did it. Sigh.)

I really liked Syriana. His other fare misses the mark, IMHO. Good night, and Good Luck felt like a cable movie--very disappointing.
