Adjusted for inflation, Kodak cameras' price range in 1900 (smack in the middle of the Gibson Girl period) would have been approximately $135-$2,500. However, even a model at the lower end of that range would have been a luxury for the average Joe, because the average annual salary at that time was $449.80. Moreover, who had time for vacation? Most people worked 9 hours a day for 6 days a week, and most folks of that period would have been in church or temple on the 7th day.
So, the fellow with the camera above is definitely a capitalist running dog.
I find Toure so fucking irritating as a Twatter.
He writes like he's sharing some secret black opinion with the masses on any number of subjects, and anytime he's called out on that, his position suddenly becomes incomprehensibly convoluted.
Good to see that Cillizza is keeping alive the razor-sharp journalistic instincts that made "Mouthpiece Theater" such unimpeachably stellar entertainment.
Said it once before, but it bears repeating: Twitter makes the smartest people sound like self-involved numbnuts. Except for Susan Orlean. She always sounds adorable.
@Uncle_Billy_Slumming: I don't know about the outsourcing policies of other websites where you comment, UBS, but here on Gawker we're usually expected to finish our jokes ourselves.
Although you still get points for the 11th Commandment.
@skahammer:
Of course you're right, Skahammer. I was just so taken aback by my own obnoxious persnickitivity that I couldn't handle it, couldn't finger it out.
For a celebrity kid, she seems to have her own life, always did and for that we can thank Hillary for making sure she grew up as a normal American girl.
I can understand about the Seinfeld/Michael Richards issue. It does flare up for me, and I've seen those episodes about 6 times each, the Gum way more than that.
Richards's "act" was so vicious and pitiable, it was just weird hearing those words and the intent coming out of his mouth. While the effect has faded with time, there are times it just takes me out of a scene.

Now, as for the one handed beauty, something about "carpal knowledge."

To their credit, one generally leaves one's Blackberry charging in the beach house bedroom for the month of August.
