Interestingly, Mr. Sanford is on the record as being against civil unions for gay couples and in favor of defining marriage as between one man and one woman. Sources say the governor is ready to amend that as being between one man, one woman and one really hot South American chick.
Meanwhile, down here in Buenos Aires, newspapers have found a new topic to talk about besides the fact that we're all dropping like flies because of swine flu. Yeah...remember that Swine Flu that was gonna eradicate all humans from the face of the earth like a month and a half ago? Well, WE STILL GOT IT!
Anyway, the "Sexgate" is what they're calling it. How original of them...
@El Matardillo: Why? Actually, he may well have broken the law. But even if he didn't, he'll resign b/c he probably doesn't want to talk about this and only this for the next several months. Lots of details to come.
He fled the country without telling anyone, left his phone off and stayed off the radar for a week because something went wrong in his personal life. Should resign for that. I don't think the infidelity matters from a professional point of view (although obviously the Republican party does) but his dereliction of duty when under pressure is unacceptable in a state governor.
@BaldwinPeriphetes: Agreed. Plenty of governors check out from actually doing anything for a week, but at least there whereabouts are still known and there is at least a facade of being engaged.
