Medical record/history fabrication...'ur doin' it wrong!
This is what those of us with inquiring, medical minds want to know.

there is also a theory that the keep the baby NO MATTER WHAT point of view only applies to other people

OB/gyn docs with a conscience advise only having the procedure if termination of the pregnancy due to serious problems is the option one seeks. It's their (the OB/gyn's) butts on the line if something goes wrong.
I guess I'm saying my "question" is rhetorical.

In my neighborhood in South Central Austin I haven't seen a single McPain/Failin' yard sign. I will never go anywhere that is not walking distance from home ever again!

and the abuse of power investigation: guilty guilty guilty

Our polling place had polling inspectors in 4 languages, police milling around talking to people, and a lot of excited folks. It was sort of hard to control my glee that I GET TO VOTE! (Yes, I am a dork, so sue me.)

The investigative clearing, on the other hand, is extremely interesting. Esp. since the one who cleared her was the one performed by the personnel board. The Alaska legislature's investigation agreed she did not technically break laws, but also stated she behaved unethically. The contradiction of the two needs resolution by a third party investigation.

@ktclementine: Exactly. To me, the rumors about Trig are essentially equivalent to the rumors of Obama being a terrorist. It ends up making the accusing party look ignorant and as if they're grasping at scandal straws. In turn, it sheds a poor light on that person's party.

Just like free speech, seeing that principle play out isn't always fun, but it is always necessary.

About that baby...there is a level of disconnect when she holds him that screams "grandma" to me.
Lastly, no one's forgetting the prank call, governor.
11/04/08
11/04/08
Truly. That call was a positive millefeuille of embarrassment. So many, many layers of humiliation.

@DevilsAvocado: No way to erase that one. Even in 2012 that tape will be played. Reverently.
11/04/08
The headlines are all that really matter. People see, "Sarah Palin cleared of charges," and they feel empowered enough to argue it so in conversation, despite never reading the article or checking the facts.
11/04/08
ugh

Heh, heh.

@DevilsAvocado: We colonials can only cross our fingers.

And it clearly took some effort. Kudos, Scrolly.
@Xylo:
All my digits are crossed. My toes are so cramped I can no longer stand, and I'm typing this with my nose.

He is! All I want today is to see and/or hear Rush Limbaugh's head explode. And fair warning: I will probably repeat this several times throughout the next 14 hours or so.

Likewise. I'm a freelancer, so I spoke with the boss and we decided we should have a self-proclaimed day off.
See you on the virtual hustings.

Thanks, Dismal. Seriously. Here's hoping your guys field a better team next time round.

@ADismalScience: Thanks!
11/04/08
I could feel it half a world away, Meg.
11/04/08
Me too! The worst part was that none of the subordinate elections were any good either, because the state is full of weird Christians and populists. So I wound up with Obama followed by a straight Libertarian ticket.
The one really satisfying part of this election was that I was ultimately able to vote against a 400mm loan for sewage projects, because life isn't a Nextel commercial and unfortunately it's not just "We need clean watta, guys?" The actual resolution was designed to produce more pork than Hatfield Farms.
11/04/08
Pork-barrelling is a truly evil thing.

Roughly 30 minutes. Not bad at all. Unsurprising, though - I'm in a Conservative county, and I figure turnout will be low there.
11/04/08
Many thanks, ADS. Maybe that will make up for my friend's mother, who is a life-long Democrat and Pennsylvania resident. She has voted in every previous presidential election, but this time around she was considering not voting for reasons she couldn't quite articulate....[like she couldn't bring herself to vote for a black guy]
She resolved the issue by not renewing her voter registration.
I was at the polls at 6 a.m., which is pretty amazing for me. My polling site in NYC was a nightmare and it took over an hour as I and some others were misdirected from line to line. Seems they couldn't find our address. It was cluelessness, not malice, but still.... I've already complained to various authorities and news outlets.
