    Someone needs to tell Mr. Poland that his whole voice-of-reason-in-a-chorus-of-insanity approach is nothing but a risky ploy in the business we call "show."

    And do you notice how he neglected to mention that the movie also garnered raves from noted post-Toasties auteur Mr. Tyler Perry?

    And who are these "real people and real voters" you refer to, Mr. Poland? Where do they reside, beyond the membrane thin walls of your imagination?

    Ironically, I find the whole mess....precious. #precious

    This movie isn't going to win an Oscar. Too downbeat -- even with the ending -- for the elderly Academy voter.

    I've been urging people to see "Hurt Locker" during screening season, and THAT'S been difficult. #precious

    The chances of Monique winning the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for this movie are in the 101% range.

    I wouldn't be surprised if they nominate Mariah Carey for Best Supporting Actress for this also. The Oscars are all about bringing in the big name celebrities these days. Thats why Angelina got nominated for her performance in the Changeling. #precious

    @smithhimself: I saw the Hurt Locker during last year's Independent Spirit screenings and I voted for it in the categories where it was nominated, but I'm surprised it's gotten this much attention. It's a good movie but I saw it without knowing anything about it so it was a pleasant surprise, and I think that current the level of praise might create unreasonable expectations. #precious

    And isn’t the good news really that as old forms of media transform, less and less people care one iota about the Oscars or any awards?

    We are coming out of a year where top-drawer openers and talent couldn’t bring folks to the box office. 2010 is the year Hollywood realizes it can’t force things into existence anymore. #precious

    After finding out a few years ago that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association only exists to provide rimjobs in advance of the Oscars, I can say I'm 100% satisfied with their choice of host. #goldenglobes
