Looks like Portfolio got it RIGHT, and he's not going to be arsed to write new material for RS. Essentially, they are jumping on his blog's bandwagon and he's not giving them anything new.
Duplicated material is bad for SEO, though. Very bad.
@the cajun boy: He just always comes off as so damn smug when he's on "Real Time." I don't know, maybe I'm being overly judgmental or something, but he just PISSES ME OFF. Ugh, I'm getting mad just typing about him...
@wry_bred: Thank you for reassuring me that he's a fucking idiot. I need to stop editing my comments (or adding to them) here out of fear that someone is going to yell at me. Damn you, performance anxiety. :(
@mattchew03: Well, nobody's going to yell at you. You're just wrong, not offensive. Taibbi's very very funny, and very scathing but in a way that's accurate and reduces things to constituent problems. He makes what he writes about seem accessible while still giving you the feeling that he's done his homework, and all the while sets up what he hates with maybe the most devastatingly precise takedowns in the world today. It's really a great performance from a political writer. If you think he's smug, maybe it's because you're of a different political philosophy? Or maybe because you're somehow jealous of him?
@Pope John Peeps II: I appreciate your comment and the thought you put into it, though I can assure you that I am in no way jealous of him. And I should have clarified more earlier, but I was speaking more about him as a television personality (specifically related to his numerous appearances on "Real Time") than as a columnist. I don't disagree that he's a great writer, nor do I think that he's not enormously effective with his arguments when using that medium, I just think he's an asshole.
@mattchew03: You know, I think television - being a fairly reductive medium, and rewarding the sensational over the substantial - tends to have this effect on a lot of people. There's a very limited amount of time, on a lot of shows like Maher's, to get your point across, and if you come across as passive or uncertain, you're toast.
