    why do we have to read SO MUCH into everything? I doubt it's a dig on Ellen's ego, I doubt it's a dig on her being gay (zomg the horrors!), it's just silly ironic-but-actually-not-ironic humor.

    I enjoyed how Paula clearly demanded that her own vocal work be acknowledged and the producers who selected Miley Cyrus as a "Diva" clearly had no leg to stand on in order to refuse her.

    That said, the show sucked but for Adele and India Arie.

    By suggesting that it was Paula's "love of money" that cost her the American Idol gig you make her appear very greedy. Women still consistently earn less than men all across this country and I would never categorize any of them as greedy if they decided to take a stand for themselves. Even though I don't think anyone really needs to earn the amount of money she was demanding I applaud Paula for being strong and publicly outing the inequity - it was a pretty sizable gap in their salaries that is insulting on any level.

    I don't think Paula is smart (or sober) enough to intimate any of the above-mentioned; seems like quite a stretch to take three words of a song and use them as the sole evidence for an analysis like that.

    @mattchew03: Agreed, but that's not nearly so egregious as the idea that her "love of money" cost her a place on the show, especially since, as the female judge since the show's inception at the turn of the century, she made less than her male counterparts and absolutely deserved some sort of pay raise.

    The likely culprit is a production man who thought this would be kind of funny in a just-dim-enough for VH1 sort of way, presented it to Paula, and in her haze of Percocet and vodka she found this to be satisfactory to her life goals at the moment, one of which likely includes finding someway to dig at her former employers.

    Or she's a homophobe who thinks Ellen has a big ego.

    @BowlingForDollars: It's been shown empirically that women receive lower wages and salaries than men. Having said that, I'm not sure that's the case with Paula, at least not the whole story. Was she every really worth more money? Cowel's obviously the top dog, it's his show, but the antics between he and Paula, and the antics of Paula by herself, were dragging the show down. How many times last season did a contestant stand on stage nervously awaiting their critique that never came, because all the time was taken up with some inter-judge bickering or awkward inside joke. I think her lower pay was a hint that she wasn't worth it to them, she tried to call them out on it, and they weren't bluffing. Anyway, what does Randy make?
