    @adiam7: If by accomplished you mean let workers go into Ground Zero when it wasn't safe as head of the EPA. Between her and Rudy that was some solid bullshit that caused more than one person to suffer some serious health problems. I used to like her, I have a family member that was very high up in her administration when she was governor of New Jersey. Then I realized that she was as corrupt as the rest of the politicians so I had to change my tune.

    @fuckingoldman: Accomplished as in she was in the party and played the game and she had a national presence that Palin did not.     @tongue-tied: I've always thought that she got a raw deal. There was very little conclusive evidence that she did anything wrong. Basically, she was a high profile person who sold a lot of stock at the right time, and while most of us would do a fist pump, she went to jail.

    @Satyrica: You are absolutely right, it was for lying to law enforcement. One phone call that she made from a plane while it was refueling. The court records indicated that it was about 2 minutes long. Martha said she spoke to the cute broker but instead it was his not so cute assistant. The same assistant that said he was often mistaken for the cute broker over the phone, who also admitted that he did not care for Martha finding her rude. I don't feel like looking for it but there is a picture of that guy coming to court in an outfit that I can only describe as China Club circa 1985. The insider trading, they couldn't even charge her for that. The SDNY is often called the Sovereign District of New York for good reason. It is Rudy's house and the AUSA's there are always after the high profile cases. That Quattrone dude is the only one I can think of that has ever beaten them. Interestingly enough, you couldn't get them to go anywhere near the big Wall Street c guys that Spitzer was making state cases out of. They spent millions on prosecuting Martha and Little Kim that year .

    During "The Gates" Jean Claude and Christo were signing copies of New York Magazine (which had a Christo painting of the project) in Central Park. The signing was eventually ended due to lateness, but there were about 100 people who had stood in line going home without having their mags signed. When Jean Claude found out, she demanded that the magazine publicist who had set up the event put everything in place so that everyone who waited could get their magazine signed.

    That's how people with class handle a situation. And something I thought about Friday as I watched the SP footage.

    @gumpsdanielson: She did pay her taxes. She was convicted of lying to investigators, the lie was saying she spoke to her broker when in fact she spoke to his assistant. Sarah Palin is dumb, plain stupid, unable to put together a cohesive sentence. She is dangerous because of her stupidity. She really does not understand many simple concepts, like the role of the VP in the constitution. Worst of all , she is a liar. She lies about things that are easily checked out. She even lies about things that have already been disproven. In other words, she even lies stupidly. We can handle conservatives just fine when their IQ is in the normal range.

    @adiam7: According to conservatives, lying to federal prosecutors is a perfectly acceptable way of conducting public life and in no way should it ever cause a person to go to jail. At least that's what I learned from the friends of Scooter Libby, and he only lied about betraying a CIA agent during wartime.

    @fuckingoldman: Your argument would be a lot more effective if Clinton hadn't been impeached for lying to a federal prosecutor and if that hadn't happened before Cheney and Libby made chumps of the Department of Justice. As it stands, it just points up the hypocrisy of the side you continually defend.

    Anyway, my point isn't about whether both sides do that same bullshit or not, my point was about the Republican reaction to Libby's conviction, which was to act as though it didn't matter that Libby lied to a federal prosecutor. If you really think that, I invite you to try it sometime when you have occasion to be interviewed by them. I'm sure all your Republican friends will rush to your defense, since Republicans as diverse as Rudy Giuliani and George Bush have said that the crime of lying to a federal prosecutor is no big deal.

    There are probably a few thousand convicted felons currently serving sentences who I'm sure would like to have their sentences for lying to a federal prosecutor commuted, too.

    I'm so sick of "their side does it, too" being used as rhetorical device whenever Republicans fuck up. I'm been sick of that tactic since grade school. Grow the fuck up.

My point--again--wasn't that Libby committed perjury (the crime apparently everyone does), it was that the supposed "law and order" party so quick to impeach Clinton for perjury were suddenly willing to let that vitriolic fuck skate on the crime of lying to a federal prosecutor when the shoe was on the other foot.

    You're the one who made this about parties; I was talking about that lying sack of shit administration. You're impossible to take seriously because you refuse to stay on topic.

He's constantly pointing out how Democrats are just as bad as Republicans, which is so easy to prove. Nixon - impeached for general assholism and crimes against the country. Carter - the nuclear engineer tries to bring peace to the Mideast, wins Nobel prize. Reagan - funds secret war in Nicaragua, but only Ollie North goes to jail. Runs up huge deficit by cutting taxes on the wealthy, leaves office with major recession, but gets $3 million house from his friends who looted the Savings and Loans. Bush #1 - gets voted out of office because he tries to patch huge hole in budget that Reagan left, by raising taxes. Clinton - balances budget, unemployment is effectively zero, and is constantly hounded by Republicans who spend millions investigating every crap he ever took. Guilty of getting a blowjob. Bush #2 - lives the republican dream by starting not one, but TWO wars, and lowers taxes on the wealthy so that the middle class can be handed the bill at a later date. Runs up massive deficits (with NOTHING to show for it except increase in Halliburton share price and gas prices), pisses off the entire world, crashes the economy spectacularly, lets a major American city drown, and spends most of his time pissing on the Constitution and passing "faith based inititiatives." So you see, Mediahohoho, Democrats are every bit as ineffectual and dishonest as Republicans. Democrats want affordable healthcare, civil rights for everyone (including the dirty Godless homos), a sane foreign policy, a balanced budget, people who are "intellectuals" running the country, etc... Republicans want tax cuts on the wealthy, healthcare for those who can afford it, war against anyone who disagrees with us, and deficits don't ever matter because God and the beauty queens Palin and Prejean (they're just like you!)will solve everything in the end. In short, they just want a Christian nation run by rich pricks who should be allowed to ruin whatever they want. By the way, my nickname for fuckingoldman is fuckingannoying. I don't know why he won't just admit he's a Republican. The great thing about being a Republican is you never have to admit any of your dumb ideas which totally never work, are dumb ideas that have never and will never work, all you have to do is say "Democrats are just as bad as we are."

    @fuckingoldman: I don't have a bias against conservatives; I reject them and their policies. I reject them for lying us into wars, wiping their asses with the constitution and doing everything they can to promote the good of corporations over citizens. And I really don't give a shit if you have a problem with that. There are plenty of things I'm willing to take other politicians to task for, but conservatives need to be gone from government because they're no good at it and because their philosophy, such as it is, doesn't believe in it.

    But let me get back to the point I made when I started my participation in this thread. Conservatives are on record as saying it's okay to lie to federal prosecutors. Just one more reason I don't want them anywhere near my government. And I really don't give a shit what you think about that.

Every time you bring something up that the Republicans have done I can point out that the Democrats have done the same thing. For example you mention wiping their asses with the Constitution: Bush = Guilty, Obama = Guilty.

    @Mediahohoho: That sentence was commuted before it began. Bush lacked the balls to just flat out pardon him which is still a really sore point for OG Cheney. Clinton lied about an affair. The amount of time and money spent on that bullshit was shameful. Karl Rove taught me that you can ignore subpoenas from Congress. The hypocrisy never ends with Republicans, look at how many soldiers did Bush send to war while cutting benefits for soldiers and their families while cutting taxes for the rich. How much money has Halliburton made from these wars before they moved their headquarters to Dubai? The lies on tape about Katrina alone should send somebody OTHER then the former Commissioner of the International Arabian Horse Administration Michael Brown to prison. The party of the framers threw the Constitution right out the window with the Patriot Act. Bush gave money and support to anyone who told him they were joining his Crusade.

    I'm not in love with Democrats, but I'm not voting Republican again for the rest of my life. Those assholes have spent the past 30 years tearing down everything that made this a good country. "If you disagree with us you're a terrorist, we believe in freedom, but make sure it agrees with our religious philosophy first, separation of church and state...WTF?"     @adiam7: The real irony is that Bush actually did two "christian" things while he was in office: 1) gave AIDS money to Africa 2) Gave $450 billion dollars to HUD to give to the Poors so they could buy houses. Interestingly Republicans never took credit for that last part, in fact, they blamed poor old Jimmy Carter, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. If anyone would like to see Dubya's contribution to the housing crisis just Google "American Dream Homeownership Act."#tips

    @fuckingoldman: You think that Kennedy put us in Vietnam? Nixon had no other choice he made that call YEARS after he was told that it should be made. There is no one you can name form the Democrat side that will EVER compare to Bush. Start in Florida, pass through New Orleans and end up in Iraq . Do you remember what his warning was to the people of Iraq when were were ready to invade? Do not touch the oilfields. General Eric Shinseki said that the mission would require of few hundred thousand soldiers and what does this asshole that nerve served a fucking day do- he said that was an overestimation and had General Shinseki ousted. He sent them to a fucked up war, without enough people, or the right equipment and you think there is a Democratic equivalent to this? Not to mention that when those same men and women came home there was little in terms of assistance for their many problems, instead a cut on their benefits is what they could look forward to. There is also the little issue in Afghanistan that he chose to ignore. The worst fucking thing about Bush is the way he hides behind the Bible. If he was just a regular murdering, conniving asshole like Cheney or his daddy I could deal with it. This son of a bitch has the nerve to be sanctimonious and preachy about his shit and that really pisses me off.

    @ParahSalin: I don't think you hate Christians, really. I think you hate the same thing that I do believe it or not. I hate people that practice organized religion, then do everything the Bible tells them not to do. A few years ago I was thinking that I claimed to be a Christian yet had never read the Bible. So I picked up my copy of the New Testament and read some every day at lunch. Amazing the things I read that I had never heard any "religous person" say. I didn't read one of the versions that was an easy reader because I didn't want anything to be lost in translation. While not Aramaic, I had to read many passages two or three times to understand them. I have despised organized religion ever since. And I can't stand conservatives that quote from the Bible and act so un-Christian. Actually, since reading the Bible I can have a pretty good time going toe to toe with them. Like I told you before, I'm pretty complex (blame the acid) and a tough act to figure out.

    @ParahSalin: I realize that Bush Sr, is country club Republican. I know that he is intelligent. However, no one could be as much of an asshole as Dubya. He is stupid but believes he is intelligent. He is amoral l but believes he is righteous. He is also rich and surrounded by sycophants which would be harmless enough had he remained a celebutard. It is miracle of biblical proportions that he did not push the pretty big red button. When he went on trips outside of the US, not the over 1,000 vacation days he spent while in office, my mother would worry about what he may say or do while overseas as if she was referring to a particularly unruly or errant child. If all this wasn't bad enough add an equal part of religious fanatic.

    @fuckingoldman: Depends on which Bible you read. My family is Orthodox Christian and Revelations with all the fab parts that Bush likes to quote is not in there. There are also differences in language and translations that makes part of the King James unrecognizable to me. There are Coptic Bibles that also have different parts. The Bible as any other book should be read in its historical context. It is easy to say , as I have for years, it is not religion but what others do in the name of religion that is wrong. The truth is that a lot of American churches have been politicizing and in turn have politicized their religion. Their interpretation of that religion becomes that religion. They support Israel so that the Messiah can return and then Jews will either have to convert or be killed, but that's later right now they go to Israel like Huckabee did and call for more settlements. They are against gay marriages being recognized by the state, not the church, while their leaders are banging call boys. Bush bought the black church's votes in 2004 with over 100 million dollars for "faith -based initiatives". I am sure I heard the 'Funding Fathers' turn in their graves.I wont even go into Islam and what you can expect in Saudi Arabia as a non-Muslim. Rabbi's sanctioning murder. It goes on and on for religion.

    @adiam7: I have to agree with everything you say. Damn, that's no fun! *smile* My problem is organized religion, I will go as far as to say I believe it is evil. That doesn't mean that there aren't good people involved in organized religion, but I think they are ignorant to what's going on, kind of like a lot of voters in this country. My view of religion is pretty simple, there are only ten commandments to follow and if you can't remember them, there's always the Golden Rule. I can sum it up in even fewer words, be cool.

    @fuckingoldman: Agreed and the golden rule is usually a safe-bet on how to be a decent human being. The problem in religion is the entire dogma factor. There is a something unhealthy about that. The root of most problems, in my opinion, is ignorance. This extends to ignorance of religions, texts, and customs. I had a friend tell me how it is against Islam to shake hands with the left hand. had to explain to this person that the reason for that is that during the time the Koran and Hadiths were written, the left hand was used for all unsanitary things -think charmin. In Saudi Arabia there are separate roads for non-Muslims so that they may not ever ride over Mecca or Medina. How in the hell could Mohammed have envisioned overhead highways? The prosperity churches are another problem. Too much for here.

    @adiam7: Ignorance is such a terrible thing, and so easy to fix. I'll never understand why some people revel in it.

    I'd heard that about the left hand, that's why in Sharia law they cut off the right hand for stealing. I love learning about other cultures, my wife and I have friends from all over the globe. We think it's really interesting to see how they do things in other parts of the world. Too bad so many people in the USA think that we are the entire world.
