    It's weird. On the one hand, I want to encourage these guys to embrace what is obviously, at the very least, a kind of sexual ambiguity. I think it wouldn't hurt some of them to come out and admit that they're at least a little gay.

    I think I'm in these photos but I can't remember for sure. Secondly these photos aren't homoerotic. You should see what me and the angels do up here everyday. What you liberals refer to as 'homoerotic' is actually some dudes rough-housing, a little horseplay among the guys and ritual male-bonding. You civilians just wouldn't understand. Forcing someone to eat chips out of your asscrack gives them the strength to waterboard muslin tearrist suspects. It's a warrior thing. Do you love America enough to get it?

    I have a question. Were these pictures taken at the embassy? If not, isn't this a private party? I know my employer shouldn't fire me for what I do at a party a friend's house, if it's on my own time, and not using company resources (like expensing them).
    What is the rationale for the dismissal here?

    @Little Green Frog (Wise Latina): @Little Green Frog (Wise Latina): They are in a foreign country, probably living in homes provided by the govn't (if I were to guess.) On top of that they are hazing fellow employees. As in they are initiating new guards by forcing them to eat chips out of their asscracks and vice versa. That's against some kind of rule for sure.

    @Little Green Frog (Wise Latina): From the original Gawker post, I got the impression that these men live on (and are partying at) a common property, like a dorm. One probably provided by Wackenhut - or the U.S. gov't? I think that would change the "private party" dynamic and allow for more scrutiny by the "suits."

    @Little Green Frog (Wise Latina): The pictures were taken at the men's living quarters at Camp Sullivan. There is no such thing as a private party when you work for the government. State and federal employment statutes have provisions for suspension and/or termination of employment when a government employee exhibits this kind of horrendous behavior on or off the clock. You might read your own employee handbook because I cannot imagine too many employers who would let something like this skate. And I don't think you'd find much in the way of employment law to protect you.

    Isn't it lovely when a pundit gets paid to self-righteously crap on a soldier who is being held hostage?
    This is Ralph Peters, the same guy who scoffed at the NYT for suggesting that Iraq was heading for a civil war. The same guy who declared the war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan successful during the run up to the 2008 election, then completely reversed his position less than one month after Obama took office (coincidence I'm sure *eye roll*.) Why on earth is he taken seriously by anyone? And why would they let him slander a soldier with little evidence, especially when said soldier is in no position to answer the allegations? It boggles the mind.
