Simon Cowell Admits To Being Part Of The Susan Boyle Problem |

If she is so fragile then the onus is on her family to sit her down and talk to her about it, not some guy who organized a talent show on which she chose to participate of her own free will. And if her family chooses not to do so then you don't have to like it & you have every right to say so but their actions and their motives are their business. Unless they're forcing Boyle to go out there and perform like a dancing bear, or she is declared mentally incompetent, she can do whatever she wants to do.
It's hilarious that Amy Winehouse is basically running around leaking heroin from her pores and everybody is like, "oh so sad, someone should talk to her about it but what can we do? You know drugs and rock n roll!" whereas Boyle has an emotional breakdown and people go: "Simon Cowell (who, incidentally is about the same age as Boyle) should start taking her decisions and telling her what to do!"
What the hell people?

ooh, you're so edgy.
because susan boyle is EXACTLY like amy winehouse! and a cheesy TV talent contest is EXACTLY like the recording industry! and brain damage and delusional, eccentric behavior is EXACTLY like self-injury and drug/alcohol abuse!
well done, sparky.

Boyle clearly doesn't have the coping skills to handle life in the spotlight, the traditional dysfunctional ways being booze, drugs, and multiple random hookups. She obviously can't endure the current series of short live performances of just 10 minutes, let alone theater, Vegas, headlining a tour, or cabaret. Recording? Yeah, but she'd likely have to do public appearances to promote it. This is all aside from the fact that the famously fickle short-attention-span public will likely move on to it's next youtube obsession.
So Simon, you started this, but, are you going to see that she is brought back down and settled back into life in her small town, singing in the church choir, and snuggling Pebbles, now that she has tasted fame and fortune? And more difficult, even if she--with her family's blessing--still wants to go forward with her unlikely dreams of being Elaine Paige?
And will you really, as gossip items suggest, go forward, via your staff, in looking for an American Susan Boyle for the American version of Britain's Got Talent, an unconventional-looking and behaving older person from a small town with surprising talent and big, big dreams?

The icon of grace under misfire was John Stewart, who was hired on as one of the Kingston Trio in their doting years. Some said he wasn't treated fairly in that group. He replied, sure, I drew the short end of the bread, but if I didn't like it, I could've walked out the door at any time.
A message to all whiners.

In the Daily Mail editorial, Cowell cited some disgruntled losers who blamed the show or Cowell when they failed to make millions of pounds. He mentioned Niki Evans, Steve Brookstein, and Journey South, all who had done well on the various talent scouts shows but less well than they had hoped and they blamed the show and Cowell for their failures. That's my reference to whiners.

I think these days Simon Cowell is probably languishing in the shadow of his incomparably superior Brit compatriot Nigel Lythgoe. SYTYCD is so far superior in every way to American Idol, especially in its treatment of its beloved art and its contestants, that it's like a superior species of life came down from outer space and is watching Cowell and his prehistoric brethren eat a gazelle raw.
