A beautician could help with those eyebrows and make his image substantially less devious.

This is the guy to blame for The Philanthropist? For that alone he should be banned from the White House.

"Unctuous" meaning oily, as in Extreme Unction, the Roman Catholic rite of anointing the dying with oil. Perfect.

    Was he high?

Wow. Such vitriol. Such hate. Silverman is an "awful person." Seriously? On what grounds? He may make shitty TV, but so do ALL the major networks. He has made some great TV too, including the US Office.

He didn't greenlight Merlin, btw. Though I'm sure he approved its purchase from the UK (who "greenlit" it).

I love how everyone loves shitting on Silverman when they dont have an ounce of his success, or his (no one can argue with) salesman skills or eye for talent.

@jessedir: Eight words: "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here." Or may just two: Spencer & Heidi. That's enough for me to conclude he's an awful person, or at least a dreadful television executive.

Oh, and then there's the travesty of Leno on 5 nights a week in what ought to be the slot for NBC's best, most innovative programming.

But really, Spencer & Heidi were enough for me.

@pmarble: Embarrassed to admit, I am the one and only person that watched I'm A Celebrity. And I do wish I could get those hours of my life back.

He has a classic douchie look. Why is he standing in front of a medieval castle?

The way Ben is rocking that preening attitude, it's highly unlikely one of his people had the courage to slip him that "worst show ever" review.

Coke-addict party boy in the White House? Methinks there was a big campaign donation and this is a meet-and-greet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Ben Silverman have been the guy to green-light "Merlin"?

    Yeah.

@Astigmatism: "Green-light" meaning "buy from the UK where it aired last year?"

@lucylooo: Important things to note about Merlin: It just happens to be produced by Shine, the production company owned by Elisabeth Murdoch, which paid Ben $250 million for his old production company Reveille.
