    @aMagnificentBasterd: Not all Indians are Hindu, and not all Hindus are vegetarian. As with Buddhism, there are varying degrees of adherence, some of which is influenced by local customs.

    @valet_of_the_dolls:OK, "Nihari Hindu" is a term I just invented: the Hindu version of "Bagel Jew". I work with an Indian guy who has an uncle who is so fundamentalist that his wife must cook only vegetarian food in the nude. (Something about clothes being unclean for food preparation.) By my co-worker who is the nephew of this man also introduced me to beef Nihari, a popular breakfast curry in New Delhi, a kind of delicious beef stew eaten by non-practicing Indians of Hindu background and non-Hindu Indians. In any case, I know there are practicing Hindus that are vegetarian, vegan and ones that are vegetarian but will eat boiled eggs (depend on which school of thought). Not sure about meat eaters, though. Every practicing Hindu I've ever met avoids meat, though I've heard that some will eat fish. But what do I know. I worship the Muppets.

    @Gene Gemperline: That's why it's be a good guess that they knew exactly what they were doing with this ad. No such thing as bad publicity, all that.
