    Maybe if we measured "normal" by the average female sex drive, we would all be talking about how to address the crippling problem of male hypersexuality. Imagine magazine articles on "How to Cool Down Your Sex Life."

    There are some very funny comments about the couple in the photo, but I'd love to see more serious comments on this tidbit.

    When it comes to something as monumental as female desire, people get skittish and change the subject. I'm only seeing serious comments from women.

    You'd think men would be clamoring for this drug to be fast-tracked and available OTC. Horny women everywhere? Paradise!

    @pollyannacowgirl: I think men with older wives would be very happy to see this drug on the market. It is natural for a woman's sexual desire to decline as she gets older, just as it is natural for a man's ability to get and keep an erection to decline as he gets older. The thing is - for older couples - it's not too great to have one and not the other! #science

    @intime: Yes. Of course the cynic in me is saying that these old goats don't WANT their wrinkly saggy wives bugging them for sex. They want to use the Viagra on bouncy strippers while their wives are busy gardening or volunteering.

    I know. It's wrong to make that assumption. It would be nice to see the desire and the ability equitably distributed.

    I'm just skeptical that Big Pharma wants to unleash a bunch of horny women on the world. #science

    @pollyannacowgirl: My cynical response is that husbands/boyfriends aren't necessarily afraid that their wives/girlfriends will want to have sex with them but rather that they will (or will also) want to have sex with other men. Basically, they don't want women to act like men.

    I think some men trust their female significant others not to cheat (at least sexually) because they don't think they care about sex all that much. I think a pill that would make women care more about sex would freak some men out for that reason. Some kind of inherent trust would be missing.

    And yeah, I know that's a helluva lot of stereotyping for two paragraphs. I'm just generalizing out loud. #science

    @Atilla the Bun: The problem with these drugs is that women either

    A) want to have sex, and therefore don't need the pill or
    B) don't want to have sex, and therefore don't want the pill.

    As a married man, I would love for my wife to get pre-married horny again. I'm not holding my breath, however. #science

    @m4ximusprim3: I think you are missing a third category: women who want to WANT to have sex. Some women are just like men in that they want to feel that urge but just can't get their body to follow suit for whatever reason, and that's where a pill comes in.

    @Atilla the Bun: I think you're right. The plus side of having a partner with a lower sex drive is the knowledge that you'll always be able to keep up with her. Hell, you're too much for her, that's pretty awesome.

    When she starts wanting it all the time, there's probably some performance anxiety issues waiting to happen, along with the worries about her going somewhere else. #science

    @pollyannacowgirl: On other hand, I think the demand for this drug is huge and they can probably make a lot of money on it, so we will see it soon. And most old guys don't have much access to young chicks unless they have a lot of money.
