This story is ridiculous and reeks of bitterness. I'm not a big Nikki Finke fan, but COME ON, she's only human. Obviously taking a few days off here and there hasn't stopped her from making a lot of money off her blog, and it doesn't seem to have caused media interest in her to wane, as you just wrote an entire freakin' post about how she's not a robot. Sheesh, lay off.

Jesus, Cook, yours must be made of titanium.

I believe in God, and the only thing that scares me is Keyser Soze Nikki Finke.

    I demand a refund! -- oh, wait.

Doesn't she have MS as well? It's possible to have MS and be relatively asymptomatic, but she might not be that lucky.

Fail to see the point of this.

Next post up will be a shocking expose of missed deadlines in the webcomic industry, no doubt.

Maybe she should go get a new head shot taken on one of those days off.

She's so intense/crazy and all that but I'm not going to begrudge somebody days off at a blog. She's not exactly conducting the war in Afghanistan. TV and movie screens aren't going to go dark if she were to say "I have taken a day off to watch cuckold porn and shitty reruns."

One screenshot in the crowd caught my eyee:"Fewer Holiday Postings." Nikki Finke is no ordinary rank-and-file employee punching a timeclock - she's a workhorse who post around the clock, 7 days a week. So her new bosses shold probably take that into account. (And probably do - they know what they bought. One thing you don't need to worry about with Nikki Finke is her work ethic.)

As a similarly unreliable but nowhere near as well-paid a blogger as Nikki, I am surprised to find myself wanting to defend her on this score - esp. because the very limited exchange I had with her in the past was, on her part, pretty unnecessarily rude.

I guess I'll limit the defense to saying that surely the obsessiveness with which she attacks some of these stories, turning up real scoops no one else can get, simply predicts there will be times she drops offline for a bit. The mind and body just try balance it out after a while, esp. if there is an issue like diabetes to factor into the mix.

Odd, I never expected to feel any sympathy for her. I'll probably lose that in irritation the next time I see more than one "Toldja" on her blog's index page.

@The Real JR: Work a night shift or have narcolepsy. Sometimes prescribed for MS fatigue, too. It's not habit forming and feels less jittery than caffeine. But it will keep you up for freaking ever if you don't watch when you take it.

    Or so I've heard.

@RandomLunatic: Yeah, I've been reading a lot of reviews and experiences on this drug and it sounds like a sort of wonder drug. I'm neither on the night shift nor narcoleptic. But you would think there's a huge market for this stuff out there.

Is that a box of some sort of lady-part cleansing agent? I mean, don't they all have names that end in "gil" and come in boxes with suns on them, 'cause I dunno, the sun shines out of all lady-parts, apparently?

@i'm a bottle: Yeah, well, for some of us muted colors, sunshine, and suffixes that end in "gil" say stimulant, (when yeah, I'm sure the clip art catalog had no other way of describing that) and for others it says, "to calm uncomfortable itch in those private moments."

Thanks for the tip. I'll go now and ingest some rat poison in a Splenda box.

Many of them have worked at corporate law firms and investment banking firms. They should be used to the killer hours. At least it's not billables for the sake of billables. They're trying to fix the country.
