The great thing about Gawker commenters is that we have no ego. I am sure I'm only talking to myself and no one is reading this comment but me. Most of the time, I'm in agreement with the voice in my head, but sometimes I get tired from spending the whole day with myself.Regardless, I hope someone asks Obama if he is sure he wants this job. It comes with a lot of responsibility. Just sayin.

People who think Obama is/was unaccomplished, are um, kinda white. Obama is only the third post-reconstruction black senator in American history. He was the first black editor of the Harvard Law Review. And he's fine as hell. He's not the first, but, damn.

And he wouldn't have won his senate seat against the wealthy republican Jack Ryan, if 7 of 9 (That's Jeri Ryan to you who do not Trek) hadn't outed him for his dickery.

You can't really ignore racial shit, unless you are unaffected by it. And you cannot ignore the lure of the good looks, unless you're.. dead inside? I don't fucking know.

But I'm tired of people acting like this guy hasn't 'proven' himself. On the greasier side, he can 'prove' himself to me, any ol' time. But so could 7 of 9. I mean Jeri Ryan.

Accomplishment-wise? Nah. He proveded that.

@howYOUdoin: I so agree with you on this front. When Sarah Palin stood up at the RNC and ridiculed him for doing community service -- that might have been when the full force of my loathing set in. Community service in Wasilla, asshole, might involve numbering antlers. But in Chicago, it's the kind of work that should be required service for anyone hoping to be president. His accomplishments were far from minor.

@Trixie from Toronto: I think the boy (the actor, not the actual and much younger screenwriter) has a love-hate affair with food. Jon Favreau was overweight before Swingers (notably, in Rudy) and was overweight the last time I saw him (for the Iron Man release).

While never a great-looking guy, Jon Favreau is at least not a potato-faced schmo when he's slimed down.
