Aren't they embarrassed that they're legally required by law to refer to Velveeta as "Velveeta Product?" You would think they would want to bump the cheese level up or change the formula somehow so that they could call it Velveeta cheese. These are the kind of monsters we're dealing with here. #kraftfoods
My mother in law gets the Kraft "food and family" magazine in the mail, I swear it has the most depressingly unoriginal/downright lazy meal ideas I've ever seen. The worst has to be the "ideas" sent in from readers, which recently included this winner - "I serve juice pouches and peanut butter sandwiches at my kids' parties, they're a real hit." #kraftfoods
As any first year philosophy student can tell you, the yuck factor is (literally by definition) unreasonable. It pertains to snap judgements made in the absence of reasoning, and has been used as a justification for all sorts of terrible and harmful 'moral' positions. For example, you can thank the yuck factor for the widely held belief that homosexuality is immoral. ...Great.
The term 'wisdom of repugnance', which you link to, was coined by none other than Leon Kass, who sat on Bush's 'Presidents Council on Bioethics'. He and his ilk are the very same antagonisers of science who we have to thank for all the great stem cell research that DIDN'T happen in the past eight years.
I'm surprised to find Gawker locking step with them and their most idiotic philosophy. They dreamt the term up in order to legitimise prejudice and justify their stifling scientific policies. #yuckfactor
People like you like to think of yourselves as just SOOOO enlightened. But really, you're just naive and gullible, with zero common sense. Zero. #yuckfactor
@futuremrsrickankiel:
Didn't Cadbury say in defense of this takedown that they had licensed the creme egg to Hershey and the smaller eggs weren't actually Cadbury products?
I bought a Mars bar the other day at the new Publix in South Beach. (Don't go there; the parking sucks. I nearly totalled my car.)
I didn't mean to do it, to buy that Mars bar, I mean, I was just caught up in their ethnic aisle and vastly amused to discover that British food is now ethnic. As far as I know, Mars and Cadbury (maker of other much-loved childhood face-stuffing things) are not related.
So I ate the English Mars bar, much smaller than it used to be, and then idly checked the wrapper. Nearly 300 calories! My daily limit!! (Wine has no calories, I've decided. If it had, I would be immense.) #kraftfoods
@mattchew03: This is one of those culture traps. If he says it's the city in MI, he's a yokel. If he says it's a Scotland reference, he's a highbrow elitist. If it's a remnant from his vacation on New Caledonia, he's a rich elitist. No win answer, baby!
Oh, come on, Kraft isn't that bad. They have that delicious mac & cheese dinner and now they have individual little buckets of it that you can nuke!! Great for the kiddies!! Beats ramen noodles!! #kraftfoods
@mslewis: I'm not sure how you determined that serving your kid Mac & Cheese in a "bucket" is better then Ramen noodles in a bowl but I'm calling CPS. #kraftfoods
We humans turn out enough funny looking kids as it is. I can't tell you the number of times in a newborn nursery we hold up a baby and say, "Do you think he looks funny? Are his eyes weird, his ears too low, his penis too small?" The answer's generally "No, he looks like his parents." But NOW imagine those conversations!!! #yuckfactor
@If_I_Had_a_Poodle: We hold him and cuddle him just like the beautiful cherubic ones. And tell the parents they have the sweetest baby in the nursery... #yuckfactor
