Amanda Congdon, the first video star to emerge on the web, has made the jump to mainstream media. The presenter, who came to fame on the Rocketboom video blog before falling out with her partner in the venture, is taking a job with ABC News. Though she's attached ABC News Now, the web show, she says she also expects to appear on Good Morning America, Nightline and other TV shows. Amanda Congdon, in a video announcement, also hints at a cross-platform comedy TV show for HBO. Comedy might not be her strongest suit. She says, in perfect corporate boilerplate, about her videoblogging role: "I'll be the first person to fill that role for the network. And because ABC is just continually pushing ahead and innovating, I'm super excited to be a part of, a part of their team." I found myself distracted by the new, expensive hair — the kind of hair that goes with mainstream TV — and the hall of mirrors in which she was standing.
