    Sixteen fallen Midas Listers

goldfinger.pngForbes's Midas List ranks "the best dealmakers in high-tech and life sciences." Predictable names at the top of the list of 25: venture capitalist John Doerr and pretty much anyone else who got into Google early enough. But enough celebration of the Google effect. What of all the people who've been knocked down the Silicon Valley pecking order? Sixteen who made the list last year are relegated, including, poignantly, Vinod Khosla, Doerr's former colleague at Kleiner Perkins.

    Investor 2005 rank Current venture
Promod Haque 8 Yatra, Indian travel sales
    Vinod Khosla 9 Biofuels
David Strohm 11 Edge Dynamics, channel commerce management
Seth Neiman 12 Off the radar
R David Spreng 13 Serving on National Venture Capital Association board
Paul Chamberlain 14 Bumped up to co-head of  Morgan Stanley's global tech-industry group
Roger Evans 15 Silver Peak Systems, business networking
Tench Coxe 17 Nvidia, computer graphics
Roland Van der Meer 18 Axesstel, telecom
William Ford 19 Likely to join New York Mercantile Exchange board
Kevin Compton 20 Protrade, athlete stock market
Geoffrey Yang 21 Still at TiVo
Robert Davoli 22 Off the radar after resigning from Versata, software
    James Wei 23 FyreStorm, semiconductors
Andrew Rachleff 24 Windy Hill Kids Film Festival, founded by 13-year-old daughter Shelby
    Michael Homer 25 Mi5 Networks, anti-spyware
