Ryan Seacrest's steady march towards intergalactic domination proceeds with news that the Kardashian-wrangling multi-zillionaire is being courted to replace Matt Lauer on the Today show. Another great move from NBC!

The Wall Street Journal reports that Seacrest met on Tuesday night with top NBC executives to discuss taking the job, though Lauer hasn't yet announced his departure. (He's been dropping a lot of hints, though.) This is actually a great idea. With Ann Curry and Ryan Seacrest at the helm, the venerable morning show will dispense with any pretense of wit or complexity, giving viewers a reason to feel better about themselves in the morning before heading out the door to tackle an increasingly hostile world.
