Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk Announces Resignation

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who assumed leadership of the country in February of this year after a revolution ousted previous president Viktor Yanukovych, announced his resignation today.

Yatsenyuk said the decision was prompted by the collapse of Ukraine's government coalition, which saw the nationalist Svoboda and Vitali Klitschko-led UDAR parties electing to leave the government.

"I am announcing my resignation in connect with the collapse of the coalition," Yatsenyuk said from the parliamentary dais, the AP reports. He added that the parliament could no longer do its work and pass laws.
