Russian President Vladimir Putin and his wife Lyudmila are calling it quits after 30 years of marriage. In a totally normal move, the couple announced their divorce on Russian state television after attending the ballet together. It was their first public appearance together since Putin's third inauguration in May 2012.
"It was a joint decision: we hardly see each other, each of us has our own life," Putin said during the broadcast. “We are always going to be very close to each other. I am sure, forever."
Lyudmila was on the same page, telling reporters that she was “very grateful to Vladimir...that he still supports me. And the children, he really cares for them and the children feel this." The Putins have two daughters, both in their 20s.
