ha ha ha it's cool the way 'certain' people have been living for a long time is put in handy, pithy yet relavant capsules for people who 40 years ago would only be able to whisper the word 'ghetto' and not attempt to be down with it and all its pecularities (i.e. why is there always someone named Pookie who is getting arrested for something?)

If people are going to make fun of idiot black people and their institutions, it would be nice if it were a little more varied, not to mention marginally closer to the experience of people I know.

In addition, if I read The Assimilated Negro's blog correctly, he's posing a little. I believe he went to boarding school. Now that doesn't give him the same perspective as a white, privileged preppie, but he has seen something of the world beyond 125th Street and Lenox.

Hmm, from the title I expected this to be about the girls with patent leather boots in weird colors, who stand under the overhang of the chop shop or maybe underneath the exhaust vent of the taqueria and peddle their, uh, goods.

Now that I think about it, though, most of them would probably be better classified as "wide booty" rather than "long booty."

I'm loving these, TAN. I'll definitely buy you a drink (my cobo carries an excellent selection of Latino soft drinks) if you're ever in my neck of the woods.
