]]> <![CDATA[A Hipster Never Misses A Money-Making Opportunity]]> I'd really love to know what fucking idiot at Vice is picking their afterparty locations. Venue #1 was a warehouse in East Austin that is a) adjacent to a quiet residential neighborhood and b) two blocks from a large Austin Police Dept. station. I assume Vice had to ditch it because the unrelated iheartcomix.com party the night before was busted and the police were onto the place. Venue #2 was not only in a quiet residential neighborhood (the one I live in, as it so happens), but one with narrow streets, a vigiliant neighborhood association and virtually no parking. Neither one was remotely appropriate for 1000+ drunken hipsters. They need to move this shit back to the airport hangars and whatnot where the afterparty events were hosted in previous years.

The worst part was that Dewar's, being the lone sponsor of the event, was the only booze available, at least until Vice busted out the cans of Lone Star at 1am. I gather Dewar's is trying to reposition itself as something other than a tipple for geriatrics, but it's nonetheless fucking vile.
