But if you want to be honest in your argument, you have to admit that of your 150 million sentient, English-speaking adults includes a couple of percentage points worth of people who actually read books. And knowing what I know about ad rates, I have to say that a couple hundred thousand pairs of eyeballs can be a big deal, if they're the right eyeballs. I think a few advertisers realized this about Spy and used it to great advantage in getting their businesses launched in the 90s.
