]]> <![CDATA[The Only Watchable Homemade Movie Remake]]> I saw a screening in Boston a few years ago, with the director. It really is incredible to watch. They showed it back to back with the actual Raiders, and both were equally entertaining. Those kids even got a submarine!

The one thing they didn't get was the fight near the Flying Wing. They had a plane lined up to use but decided not to film it because a) it doesn't advance the plot and b) the homemade pipe bomb they were using to cause the explosion fx malfunctioned.

]]> <![CDATA[The Only Watchable Homemade Movie Remake]]> This is simply brilliant. I saw it in a theater, introduced by the kids (now adults) who made it and it gave me the weirdest deja vu. Remember how, when you were a kid, you walked out of every movie wanting to be one of the characters? Like that, except that these kids did it! Also, there are some cool details about the production--when Indy kisses Marian in this, it's the boy's first kiss in real life.

This movie is too good for me to describe.

We saw it back to back with the original Raiders, which is probably the best way to watch it. It was amazing how these guys made do with what was around them, like instead of a monkey perched on indy's shoulder, they used a dog.

At the showing someone said was going to be included as an extra feature on a DVD re-release of Raiders after the 4th one came out, in a box set or something, but this showing was over 3 years ago, so maybe I just dreamt that up.
