What Dan is speaking about is only the smell of the steam from the surface of something that goes a lot deeper and wider than even the fattest of men - he's talking about the weight of power lying on all our shoulders, the distance we all have from the toilet when we feel sick, our need for transparency in our windows, and ultimately, the vacuum at the heart of the bottled-water industry. Maybe aliens, too.
