As for JA, look, I gotta be honest: the lip dub was good!It was not enjoyable, but it was accurate! Plus, the whole performing-for-Daddy thing sort of provides an interesting psychological window into why she's so desperate for attention.

However, it is also creepy and a total metaphor for everything Julia Allison is, which is: she'd rather get credit for going through the motions than being the real thing.

Nick, I can understand why you would think she can change. A lot of guys want to believe it of pretty girls. And from your posts you appear to be something of a romantic and an idealist, with maybe a tendency to put pretty girls on a pedestal as a foothold or maybe expectations you'll get up there to join them some day. . But seriously, watch out because all those high school movies are true: girls like this are wolves and users, and they'll humor you but ultimately consider any humanity a sign of weakness and any guy who shows some vulnerability beneath their dreams of the thick-necked jock with the i-banking job and the fast car. You're Ducky, and she's only ever going to go for guys like Steff. She's a sociopath and a narcissist who lacks empathy for anyone but herself. Girls figure this out much faster.

When people complain about the violent or sexual content of tv and movies, we intuitively understand that it's a hollow noise they make, indeed, and that entertainment content is simply and precisely exactly what the masses are yearning for, yes? We understand that people vote for their preferred leisure repasts with their wallets and page views, right?

So it's time to wise up and abandon all the Julia hating, don't you think?

I mean, I, too, think this woman represents most of what's wrong in End of Days America. Still, maddeningly, shamefully, I cannot look away.

I am part of the problem, and sadly, not part of the solution.

Still, as an olive branch to my fellow travelers, perhaps I might offer my own brand of therapy which I currently use as a pressure release for the peculiar, frothy mix of guilt and bile that coagulates at the first sight of the beguiling Ms. Allison.

What I do is this; when it gets to be too much, I fire up a Julia lip dub, hit the mute button and the i-movie feature on my new MacBook, cover the screen and keyboard with Saran, and then create my own bukkake starring the ever-willing Julia Allison.

Then I post the whole thing on YouPorn.

Extra points if I frost her donut completely and silence her further, if only in my fertile imagination.

I hope this works as well for you guys as it does for me.

And where exactly is Stephanie Klein now? Living off her husband in Austin, Texas. Book deal schmook deal. There's no money in it unless your book sells hundreds of millions of copies. Klein's book sold to her blog readers. She got no major press other than book reviews, no appearances to appear on talk shows and her TV deal is null and void, thank god. Good for her for getting published, but really where did it all get her? If she weren't married, she'd still be living in a tiny apartment in Manhattan barely getting by, ingratiating herself into social clusters and blogging. Has she changed? No. Still self-involved and self-promoting, only now she's dragged her children into her never ending need for validation and attention.Where is her character progression?

What is it that these women seek? What do they want to be and how do they wish to leave their mark? Where's the substance?

No, her chosen profession didn't ruin her social life. She did. There are plenty of women who work in jobs that have them in the public eye who choose not to be stupid, vapid, selfish, self-involved and all around whorish for attention. Three guys dumped her, which is so very satisfying, But she won't change. That's why she's single.

JA is the voice or a tiny, miniscule faction of NYC women. The entitled, ugly on the inside, nothing of substance to offer the world who think that because they're pretty all their ugly behavior should be understood and excused.

The reason Carrie Bradshaw and crew were successful is because they were are so tragically flawed and did things that so many of us do in an attempt to find love. We pursue the guy with the looks, or the money, or go after the fairy tale, or try to have sex like men or try to date out of our league to establish social proof. Women related to them because we WERE them. There was some substance behind their stupid mistakes and choices that unfortunately so many women ignored. Carrie was always on the periphery of "the scene." She did not intentionally immerse herself in it. If every episode was about Carrie's clothes and the dresses and the fancy places then that series would have died a quick death like Cashmere Mafia did.

SATC had a tragic affect on single women in Manhattan who only focused on the surface aspects of the show and didn't look deeper. Samantha was a lonely, terrified woman too scared to be vulnerable and chose sex over love because she was afraid to get hurt. Charlotte was the girl who got caught up in the fantasy of marriage and love. She pursued empty, soulless douchebags because she thought that that's what she deserved because she was pretty and because she wanted the "perfect" husband. Miranda was the average looking woman trying endlessly to date out of her league because she thought that's what was on her level because she was a Harvard educated lawyer and pursuing the hothead, arrogant dick in the suit who treated her poorly and used her for sex . Carrie was the girl with obvious Daddy Issues trying endlessly to fix herself shaky self-esteem through her relationships with men. Emotionally distant, arrogant men. She thought if she could get one of these guys to stick around then she could would be okay and she would no longer be the girl that Daddy abandoned because she wasn't important enough. If the writers kept all of those characters in the same place - entitled, damaged, neurotic, controlling, self-absorbed - then we would not have stuck around.

Sadly, all the other characters on SATC EXCEPT Carrie went through a full arc of changes by the end of the series. Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha all started off one way and ended up another. Carrie? Still pursuing the asshole because Daddy didn't love her enough. So in that aspect, I can see the resemblance between CB and JA. Who wants to be that in two years JA will STILL be vimeoing and lip dubbing and blogging whilst living alone in her "toenail" sized studio in Hell's Kitchen. There will be no character progression or story arc. She'll still be exactly where she is right now. Alone.

Y'know, my porch roof leaks during heavy rains and I'm used to going out there with buckets. Ok, so the hotel room ceiling leaked at 5 in the morning, but I was up working out so it wasn't really the end of life as we know it. It was the first time I shaved in the rain, though. What just struck me is I read the Julia post, turned around, and the skies opened, and NPR was running loud and furious "the revolution is nigh!" clips.
