Her profile and blog posts read like a how-to manual for self-absorbed LOLjournalism. The "most crushing disappointment" of her life was not getting a job at Elle. OH NOEZ. Since I don't feel that her "bio" accurately represents the Wakeman experience, I've created a list from the post snippits that I feel do her justice:

"Super-preposterous"
"A cartoon image of a woman"
"A little girl in NYC"
"Obscene devices"
"Positively giddy"

I restrained myself for using "fat punching bag," but only barely. The Huffington Post is a questionable media outlet to begin with, but Wakeman adds an unmistakable air of boring nubile wonderment that only casts the hardened cynicism of the rest of the site in sharper relief.

She is--to make a sports analogy--a piece of bubblegum in a pack of baseball cards.

Hipp

Jessica Wakeman:
(Or would you prefer Wakemyn?)

Your ignorance of the history of New York glows like a shiny star on a balmy summer's eve. Until the late 90's, this was town of testosterone. The progestorogeny of the present occurred largely as a result of the dropping of crime rates and the feminization of the city's cultural representation. The women you see on the cover represent the strength and power of the New York women of their time. The women you seek were softer and not part of the larger cultural vibe in the entire forty year period from which New York is pulling. Perhaps if they did a special issue on the previous decade of the feminization of the city, you you get the images you seek.

The headline reminds me of a song I once wrote part of, called "Where All the Ladies At?"

Where all the ladies in North Dakota?
Where all the ladies in Minnesota?
Where all the ladies in California?
Don't try to say that I didn't warn ya!

[Chorus]
Where all the ladies at?
Oof, oof, oof, oof!
[Female vocals]
We right here!
