I think she is cute with or without the weird angle. Watching that was so awkward, though, I only made it halfway through - she is obviously so painfully embarrassed by her teeth. The poor girl needs to get braces or get them fixed just for the sake of her own confidence.

first time i saw her vid here on jezebel, i thought she was mixed japanese. we mixed asians usually recognize each other, but perhaps i could be fooled w/ heavy makeup and camera angles. she's definitely american, though, her accent when speaking japanese is pretty heavy.

this vid is too long for me to watch here at work to try and translate what bits and pieces i can understand...but before i think about bookmarking for later i have to ask: why are we interested?

She's still cute. I've got to feel sympathy for someone so freaked out by her own teeth. My father was that way, and there is not a single photograph of him smiling in our collections until well-past my childhood when, at age 55, he went and got some braces. Now he's a smiling fiend. Anyway, it was a great embarrassment to him because, in our society, bad teeth are a shorthand expression of class difference, and finally class inferiority. I can muster up some sympathy for this girl who obviously wants to escape the person she is, even if she does it by appropriating another cultural identity and appealing to the baser instincts of pedo-Nipponophiles. She looks pained and scared, I can't gloat over that.

Hey boy's and girls, been reading this blog for quite sometime and figured I finally something useful to write. Been studying Japanese for 6 years and what I've gathered some this show is that this girl is NOT from Florida, she's from Pennsylvania, she's 22 and J-culture freak. She loves watching Japanese anime and serial drama's (which are basically the American equivalent to day-time soaps in Japan) and the other young girl in the video is an actress from one of her fav dramas. This chick (magibon, girl from PA) went on youtube and wanted to experiment with just seeing herself on the site, but i guess turned into some Japanese obsessed guys object of affection (or 150,000 guys?) anywho, the tv channel sponsoring this thought she was pretty cute, and flew her ass out to Japan. I can't imagine what they thought when they finally saw her ugly ass in person lol.

Anywho this kinda shit happens in Japan all the time. They'll try looking for some random western girl who looks half Asian, if she's cute, they'll fly her out, turn her into some pin-up model and have her record a music album and make music videos in Japanese. 2-3 months later when they're tired of her they ship her ass back home. Doubt that ended up being the case with this chick though lol.
