@Styxwader: My dad had to have stitches a few years ago, and the surgeon that stitched him up gave me the spare hemostat from the suture kit as a souvenir. I never thought to use it for that purpose. You learn something new every day!

When I was in high school and had cramps my dad would hand me some pill and vaguely tell me not to drink or drive, of course this all ended when the walgreens pharmacist caught on that he was calling in a lot of painkillers and issued a vague threat not to prescribe anymore. Now he just goes to the emergency room to relive his glory days and weasel some hydracodeine out of people. Very House, really.

A friend of mine came down with a really bad cough away at school and was prescribed promethazine/codeine for it. After enjoying the scrip he goes back to the doctor and says, "Hey man..me and my friends drank the whole bottle of that shit and it was awesome." The doctor replied "Word! You do that shit too!" Better weed then oxycodone. I'd rather have a doc with cool nerves and a sense of humor then someone not able to count the number of gauze they left inside me before suturing back up.

I'm an xray tech and some of the Docs and Surgeons stay hopped up. One anesthesiologist was drooling on himself during a procedure but thank god he got fired not to long after.

Oh, so the only thinking it affects is the words part and the memory part, but the imagining part works just fine!

Speaking as someone who was high for all of 2004 and most of '05, and who has no qualms with smoking, yeah, it affects your ability to think. Sometimes in a good way, and sometimes not, but it affects it. That's the point.

This is a story? This is a given. When I had chemo, one of the nurses was moonlighting providing complementary therapies, and the doctors specifically referred to her herbal products. Doctors are big proponents of pot, for recreational OR medical uses.

Also, doctors are far more likely to take drugs for recreational purposes than are the general public. Look at the addiction rates: it's the ease of access.
