@ronaldpagan: I think the point this writer was making with the descriptions of the teens was that they were being hypocritical with their assessment of Miley Cyrus based on their own appearance.

And, while I certainly wouldn't like it if someone described my daughter as exuding sexuality, the first thing it would make me do is examine why my daughter was inspiring such a comment. If she were, she obviously wouldn't be dressed appropriately for a 15-year old girl. That's the bigger problem. One that a bit of parental involvement could, and should, address.

i'm saying that prob a lot of the people so quick to defend the "artistic integrity" of the shot, which was, imho, about $$$ and nothing more, might want to think about it in another context, the context of it was their kid and not someone else's

Yes, the picture was sexual--it wasn't an innocent picture of a teenage star. It had nothing to do with beauty. Annie knew that and Miley knew that. I'm fairly certain they knew this shitstorm would erupt and garner all of this (seemingly unending) attention. I don't think they've been hurt by this, my guess is they're likely enjoying it.

Poor Miley. She made a dumb choice. How many of us would have thought this was cool when we were 15? I know my judgment sucked at that age...

The issue here is that 15 year old girls aren't overly sensitive of the idea of pressure and manipulation. They know that they don't have to take their tops off just because someone asks them to. So they don't really buy the idea of girls their own age as victims. (Obviously they ARE still very impressionable, and it's a million times harder when you're a celebrity doing what you're told to do and your creepy dad is pimping you out.)

The worst thing about this scandal is that it's an excuse to plaster that picture everywhere for a week, so that grown men can pretend to be outraged and then jerk off to it when no one's looking.

Let's hunt and kill Billy Ray Cyrus.

Yeah, um, not so incidentally these girls take most of their cues from Perez Hilton. And they are REALLY pissed that she gets to hang out with the Jonas Brothers. TRUST me. I have read/heard a lot of this.

Also, not a surprise to anyone, only about half the girls we label as sluts at that age have ever been in actual close proximity to male genitalia outside of our imaginations. We are just insulting them for their sensual self-awareness...

That said, I find Miley still awkward..and I can't stand they are forcing her to emulate adult sexuality. Her humpy stage dancing is a totally different deal, and I'm not being sarcastic.

But here's the thing: I just don't understand the "artfulness" of the picture, or rather what the aim of the artfulness is. Perhaps I'm a Puritan, perhaps I'm not, that's not for me to decide, but it seems clear that the picture is meant to arouse me in some way beyond it just being "pretty." And also, what is the article accompanying it about? I'm just suspicious of the whole thing from top to bottom.
