When you say I'd "hit" that, you are sending one simple mixed message, the combination of sex and violence. But with smite, there's sort of this whole biblical revenge thing, as in "smite them with a plague." It makes me start to think, "Okay, you want to bang this person, but what did they do that make you want to punish them?" It gets complicated, whereas with hit, you're just a simple sick fuck.

As for Hollywood, boy do they hate women. I used to try to write scripts, until my hopes and dreams were hopelessly crushed. Hence the bitterness. But I liked to write script with women characters. Boy was that a mistake. It was like they refused to believe women could sell tickets. I had one script about a bunch of middle aged women that actually got me a manager (no, it wasn't Steel Magnolias, it was a very dark comedy). Everyone loved it, but all they could say was "make them younger make them younger." And though people liked it, again, they wouldn't touch it at all. I smite, smote and smut them all, but I wouldn't bang any of them.

Hey, how about that for the new sex term. "I'd smut that." Only I don't think smut is a verb.

Some of the ST dialogue is a direct lift ("he's a devil that one, he reads the minds of men"). The sound of the Enterprise's scanner comes directly from WWII sonar, as does the character of the ship's doctor as the humanistic Greek chorus overseeing the proceedings. So too the Romulan captain's XO, who dies, and so too putting garbage into the disposal tubes etc etc.

@SarahHeartburn: I just watched The World of Henry Orient the other night! Angela Lansbury's costumes were SUBLIME! Harrison Ford is still aging quite sexily, just like my beloved Peter Sellers. And the original Raiders movies were just pure escapist fun - I think you would really enjoy! (Although I really want to see the next one, Indiana Jones and The Homemade Gravity Bong. Apparently they rehearsed a lot for that one in Harrison's trailer!)

I'm waiting for the one where he plays a governor that has no choice to save an out-of-control train full of passengers because bears have taken it over (that's right Bears on a Train).
