Good news, fans of The Who. If you happen to have your tickets to the band's canceled 1979 concert and you're still alive, you can finally get your money's worth.
The 1979 concert was canceled by Providence, Rhode Island mayor Buddy Cianci, who was concerned about crowd safety after 11 people were trampled at The Who's Ohio concert.
So far, 10 ticket holders have come forward — which is actually pretty impressive given that they had no reason to hold onto those tickets for 33 years. Lepore anticipates more people will take advantage of the deal.
Somewhere, someplace, someone's got it stashed. The question is, are they willing to give that up? If they are, we're willing to take it.
No, the question is, does seeing The Who in 2013 make up for missing The Who in 1979? Let's not forget that time is a harsh mistress.
But it's win-win. A few lucky baby boomers/hoarders get to see The Who, and the tickets will be auctioned off to benefit the Rhode Island Special Olympics.
