In an attack that apparently came from a Russian intelligence agency—and that may or may not be related to similar recent cyber attacks on other Democratic party organizations—computer systems tied to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign have been hacked, New York Times and Reuters reported on Friday.
Amid its ongoing probe into the cyber attack against the Democratic National Committee, the FBI has begun an investigation into a separate but possibly related hack of another group within the Democratic party—the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The DCCC hack and the FBI’s subsequent investigation was first reported by Reuters, on Friday.
Earlier this week, Mojtaba Ahmadi, a commander at Iran's Cyber War Headquarters, was found shot to death in the woods near Karaj, a town northwest of Tehran. Ahmadi is the sixth prominent member of Iran's scientific community killed since 2007, a tally that includes five nuclear scientists and the head of the country's ballistic missile program.
